Say it ain't so
The future of the Schererville, Indiana Krispy Kreme store is uncertain after its franchise owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The Northwest Indiana store, along with 14 other stores in the Chicago area, five in St. Louis and two in Central Illinois, were included in the bankruptcy protection filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Krispy Kreme spokeswoman Janie Goldberg-Dicks said.
Missouri-based Sweet Traditions LLC, the company that operates the affected Krispy Kremes, said it could close half its stores and will cut about 110 to 140 jobs. The company has a payroll of more than 600.
It is almost a social injustice to prevent people from wandering in when the hot light is on to get fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts. What is this world coming to?
Of course some might say that the problem with the business plan is that it has a hole in it.
