Chattanooga, TN to Meridian, MS
329 miles
What a day! Fantastic! Finally ducked under the weather, so I was able to enjoy the ride a bit more and then, as if that wasn't enough, at our first gas stop I got to speak to Dill, from Nepal, a self-proclaimed "bad Buddhist." I didn't think he was bad at all. Seemed like a really nice guy.
That set the tone for the day. Picking up oil for the bike at a store whose name I can't mention (think "immigration issues"), I met a fellow biker, who told us of her struggles as a mom with two small children.
Having crossed into Alabama, after just brushing the northwest corner of Georgia, I had a great interview with Barry Thompson, a senior vice president of a bank in Tuscaloosa, AL.
And if all that wasn't enough, on the way to tonight's hotel, we stumbled across a Civil War reenactment and interviewed one of the Confederate soldiers while another sang us a song. You can't beat that with a stick!
That was a long day. Time for some much-needed food and sleep.
